Please Touch the Art

On View January 18 - March 24, 2024

The Reeves House Visual Arts Center proudly presents Please Touch the Art, an extraordinary exhibition challenging the traditional norms of art engagement. Opening January 18, 2024, this groundbreaking exhibit invites visitors to break free from the customary constraints of gallery rules and immerse themselves in an interactive and tactile exploration of art.

Tired of the ubiquitous "Do Not Touch" signs that keep viewers at a distance? Please Touch the Art seeks to revolutionize the passive experience of art appreciation. The exhibition encourages visitors to touch, play, and engage with the artworks on display, fostering a deeper connection and understanding of the art while making the experience more memorable.

Please Touch the Art aims to provide a more inclusive and sensory experience, breaking down barriers for people with vision impairments and allowing everyone, regardless of abilities, to engage with and enjoy the art on display. The exhibition features an array of artworks that span various mediums, inviting visitors to explore the tactile elements of each piece.

Featured Artists: Meg Arsenovic (Diggs, VA), Cat Babbie (Charlotte, NC), Amelia Briggs (Brooklyn, NY), Kenn Kotara (Asheville, NC), Emmanuelle Chammah (Atlanta, GA), Rachel Garceau (Atlanta, GA), Stephanie Metz (San Francisco, CA), Liz Rundorff Smith (Greenville, SC)Ryan Lytle (Newport News, VA).
